Chapter 9: Hero Quest Completed
Brain beats brawn. Again.
Scared2death and Omegawytch started the Hero quest by obtaining their Master Thief Armbands– a quick and easy task, involving no danger. Now, we had to kill the level 103 Ice Queen.
Omegawytch had killed Elvarg, the green Dragon on Crandor, by casting spells from the cover of a broken pillar, and so had Scared2death. But there is no cover in the Ice Queen’s throne room. No matter; as we had demonstrated when we killed the Tree Spirit, we don’t need no steenking cover, as long as we have each other.
We didn’t have to kill anything to catch the Lava Eels, but we definitely faced danger. Scared2death took a beating from the Lesser Demons; even so, he reached the Lava Eel fishing spot, caught an eel, and teleported to Camelot. Omegawytch breezed past the monsters with no trouble at all, and took the time to catch three eels; they heal 14 HP. Besides, Omegawytch is not nearly as good a cook as Scared2death. It would be a shame to burn the only one…
After teleporting to Camelot, Omegawytch joined Scared2death in Catherby, and successfully cooked all three eels as Scared washed away the Blamish Snail Potion residue.
Then we put our armor back on (gotta look Heroic!) and hiked to the guild to present our offerings to Achetties.
We both gained levels in so many skills, and the list scrolled so fast, there was no way to get a screen shot of the confirmation that we were official Heroic types. Omegawytch gained two unwanted Attack and Strength levels, and a Combat level, to 41. Scared2death gained two combat levels, to 31.
As we strolled into the garden with Helemos the Guildmaster, Scared2death said, “I wanted to be a Hero at 29, but I’m happy I am in. “
Maybe it was something Scared said, about being a team, or being partners, or how enjoyable it is working together…
Or maybe Omegawytch was just standing too close to the fountain.
Yeah, that must have been it. Too close to the fountain.
